Over 1000 car crashes occur each year in the Tulsa metro area. That equates to 19 car crashes a week and almost 3 crashes a day in our very own metropolis of Tulsa. And distracted driving from texting & driving, drinking & driving or simply not paying attention, cause the majority of accidents on our roads.
Something must change. Most of the accidents in Tulsa are completely preventable if people would just not test & drive, drink & drive and just pay attention to the road.
Sadly an 8-year-old little girl is the latest victim claimed by distracted driving which happened on U.S.169. The laws need to be more strict. And the consequences of causing a serious accident while not driving safely should have more severe repercussions.
A man, whom police would identify only as an “adult male,” drove into the back of a vehicle, resulting in a four-vehicle crash, police said. Katelyn Chambers, 8, was killed in the crash, and her father, Brad Chambers, and 5-year-old brother, Weston, were injured.
And what will his punishment be for his crime? And it is a crime to text & drive? What do you think his punishment should be? This driver, like many others, take their own lives and the lives of others into their hands every day when they choose to drive unsafely.
