Be Safe This Labor Day Weekend!
During this Labor Day weekend, the National Safety Council estimates that 421 deaths will occur and that there will be an additional 48,400 injuries that require medical attention.
While these statistics may seem daunting, there are ways to help prevent accidents and injury to you or your loved ones. Here are some safety tips we recommend to make it a safe and enjoyable weekend for all!
- Wear a seatbelt: NSC estimates that about 163 lives may be saved this Labor Day weekend for those wearing seat belts
- NEVER drive while intoxicated: driving while intoxicated is never a good idea, especially not when there is an influx of cars on the road due to a holiday weekend
- Follow safety precautions when participating in water activities: this includes wearing a lifejacket, focusing on the task ahead of you such as driving a boat, jet skiing, or water skiing, and making other boaters aware of your presence by wearing bright clothing while in the water or waving your arms.
While Labor Day can be a fun, relaxing way to wrap up the summer, it is also one of the most dangerous holidays of the year. Enjoy this time with family and friends, but remember to follow our recommended safety tips!
Wishing you a happy and healthy Labor Day, from your friends at Graves McLain.
