A 25-year-old was arrested after crashing into a power pole in Broken Arrow this past weekend. Thankfully, no one was hurt at the time of the accident but residents were left without power due to the crash.
The man driving was arrested after alcohol was found in his vehicle and he failed a field sobriety test. There is never an excuse to drink and drive with so many alternative solutions available 24/7. Drunk driving is a serious public safety problem and accounts for far too many serious motor vehicle accidents annually.
At Graves McLain, we are passionate about urging everyone NOT to drink and drive! Luckily, everyone walked away from this accident with no injuries, but that is not always the case.
Please remember these safety tips when you drink any alcoholic beverages:
- Have a designated driver, Plan ahead – before you plan a night out make sure to have a designated driver.
- Make an alternative plan – if you are out and have been drinking and no one is available to use one of the multiple car services available including a taxi, Uber or Lyft.
- Be aware – if you suspect someone is driving under the influence do not hesitate to immediately call the police and report it.
- Serving alcoholic beverages to minors is against the law – please do not allow any minors in your home to drink. Nothing good can come from this, and if you get caught allowing minors to consume alcohol you can be arrested, and charged with a criminal offense and fined.
